The Soya Lineage

The first known forefathers

In the year 1733 lived in Soya (Ambon) the next Pesulima's:

Alexander PESULIMA
Atta PESULIMA
Cornelis PESULIMA

The names are found in a document in the VOC archive of the General State Archives (ARA) in The Hague. It is presented under the title: 'Description of the soles of all natives, their families and their clove trees'. Except the names, also the number of family members (men, women and children) of a household are recorded, together with the number of clove trees which the family in question owned. The household of Alexander consisted of six men, three women and nine children. Atta's family consisted of two men and one woman. Cornelis had a household of three men, one woman and one child.

She was born in Soya on 26 February 1926, she died in Almelo, the Netherlands, on 28 January 2003.
She was married in ... on ... to Melkianus (Mickey) LEATEMIA. He was born Purworejo on 3 May 1925, son of Petrus LEATEMIA and Jochbed LUHULIMA, both from Saparua. Uncle Mickey died in Almelo on 4 December 2004, 79 years old. Buried Wierden 8 December 2004.

Aunt Panci was, as far as I know, the only Pesulima living in the Netherlands that was born in Soya.
Aunt Panci and uncle Mickey had no children, but they did take care for a long time for other children.

This picture is made in 1987 in Soya, Ambon, in front of the Pesulima house. The room at the right is the guestroom. The man holding the child is Melianus (uncle Nanu) Pesulima. Behind him is Gustaf (uncle Uta) Pesulima. (He is married to Coba Latupeirissa.)
The person in the center of the picture with the sunglasses is Marc Gerritsen from Wierden, the Netherlands. The woman behind him (in the door opening) is Augustien Malawau-Teterissa. (Marc Gerritsen gave the photo to tante Panci Pesulima long time ago).
